Battlestar Galactica S01E08 - “Flesh and Bone”

Starbuck: Mom always said there was nothing in there anyway.
There are a lot of Kara moments in the show that are sad and heartbreaking. This little beat where she says her Mom never thought there was anything there (her head) always made me pause to notice how quickly she makes light of how badly her mother treated her. It always struck me as quite sad and an indication that further along the line her relationship with her mom would come back and haunt her. As strong as she is she looks so fragile here as if she is wanting Adama to tell her that her mom was wrong but at the same time doesn’t expect it because she thinks her mom is right.
